All fertilizers are labeled with 3 numbers representing the percentage weight of nitrogen (N), phosphate (P), and potash (K).
*Lake Safe is determined by Healthy Landscapes (a cooperative effort between Southeastern Oakland County Resource Recovery Authority, Southeastern Oakland County Waste Authority, Michigan State University Extension, and the Metropolitan Detroit Landscape Association). To be considered Lake Safe the relative ratio of nitrogen to phosphorus must be 5-to-1 or greater. In Wayne County look for the green “Earth-Friendly Fertilizer” sticker. In St. Clair Shores look for the yellow “Lake Safe Fertilizer” sticker.
